A bold and beautiful two-bedroom apartment in Tufnell Park, this eye-catching Victorian conversion has been artfully remodelled and is a short stroll from the wilds of Hampstead Heath.
Tufnell Park Road, Tufnell Park, 2 Bed. Flat
It is difficult not to love this striking flat in leafy Tufnell Park, which is brimming with thoughtful and creative touches. Beautiful materials – dusty pink linoleum worktops and warm cork floors – combine with a bay-window banquette and an elegant colour palette to make for a sumptuous home.
The living room’s ceiling rose and cornicing are a nod to the building’s Victorian heritage but recent renovations have inserted plenty of contemporary touches, including an updated kitchen and inbuilt storage. Large French doors in the master bedroom open onto a decked terrace, which leads down to a private section of well-kept garden.
The cafes and restaurants of Fortess Road are a couple of minutes walk away, as is Tufnell Park’s Northern line station which whisks you into the city in 15 minutes. There are several standout pubs in the area, including the Tufnell Park Tavern just along the street, and local playing fields and well-regarded schools make it the perfect base. There are also plenty of green spaces in the area, including Whittington Park, Foxham Gardens, and the hidden (secret!) Dalmeny Park /playground. A little further afield (still just a 15 minute walk or seven minute cycle) are the ponds, woodlands and meadows of Hampstead Heath.

THE OWNER SAYS
This is the sweet spot on Tufnell Park Road, the prettiest section of the street and the perfect distance between the shops at Campdale Road and all the facilities up at Tufnell Park Station. Just the right distance from the pub too, which also does great food.
The light that streams in through the front of the house is mesmerising and our portion of garden away from the buildings catches the sun as a south-facing garden would. Our garden is well-loved, much-used and it’s even big enough that we considered adding a garden room.
Explore North London
There’s a sunny beer garden in the back of this corner pub near Tufnell Park tube, and the food has a distinctly Mediterranean flair, thanks in part to the wood-fired pizza oven. Families, four-legged friends (including Stevie, the resident cat) and celebrities (notably Bill Nighy and Jeremy Corbin) are all welcome.
This lovely shop also has own gallery space and hosts events, and the workshop has been serving the community for nearly 30 years. So you can trust them with everything that adorns your new walls.
Tucked away behind Holloway Road, this is a gem of a pub is found at the end of a quiet residential street of the same name. Totally family friendly, the owners have managed to create a genuine community feel which is rare these days. Parents will appreciate the paved outside seating area, which is right opposite a small park – the kids can play in the playground while you have a glass of something cold. Nice!
One of the very first of the new wave of cafes to open, that hints at the area around Upper Holloways rapid evolution, the Spoke serves up top-notch food and coffee in a familiar format, but they do it bloody well. For us, it's hard to choose from a tasty veggie fry-up, delicious (millennial) chilli avocado and onion on toast or one of their fish finger sandwiches...
Norman's is an old-school cafe serving classic British grub, but with a twist - it also doubles as a wine bar in the evenings. Truly the best of both worlds.
