BRICKWORKS SAYS

In a quiet pocket of Brockley is a one-bedroom first-floor flat that will charm your socks off. Sunny, warm and welcoming, it excels in pleasing touches of style. The overall impression is surroundings you feel you can kick back in. The living space lends itself to distinct zones, light spilling in through the double windows. And when you want to shut out the world, you can draw the shutters and create an atmosphere with the spotlights overhead. Alcove shelving is both sensible and stylish, and beautiful bare wood flooring runs throughout the lower level, creating a connectedness with the perfectly formed kitchen. A handy U-shape, large window and solid wood worktop make it an ideal spot to cook up a storm.

Separated by a hallway that forges a sense of separation is the comfortable bedroom, where the cosiness dial is cranked up by the slightly sloping ceiling. It overlooks the communal garden, with its centrepiece greenery and pallet furniture for taking in the peaceful seclusion. The bathroom is in keeping with the rest of the flat, with tiles that provide an element of ‘oooh’ without being overbearing. Tie it all together and you have a home that ticks the boxes on practicality and aesthetics.

Endwell Road is situated near the hubbub of Brockley, beloved for its coffee hang-outs, independent shops and brilliant transport connections. With locals waxing lyrical about its neighbourhood feel, it’s a real slice of community. Plus, you’re near the go-to destination of Peckham when you want to live it up on one of the many rooftops, but can also retreat to Brockley’s nearby green spaces to recuperate.

THE OWNERS SAY

We moved to Brockley from East London five years ago having been charmed by its neighbourly feel and plentiful parks nearby. There are some great bakeries just a stone’s throw from the flat and we’re also close to neighbouring Nunhead, Peckham and Deptford with all they have to offer.

Having moved from a relatively small flat in Dalston, one of the things we fell in love with straight away was the spacious, high ceilings of the living room that make it perfect for hosting friends. Plus our patch of shared garden is a real sun trap and looking out over the railway gives such a sense of open space. We’ve lived here through some big moments, including having our first baby, so it’s been a very special home for us and one we look forward to passing on.
