Halfway down a quiet road in Tottenham is this bright three-bedroom terraced house with its own south-facing garden. Overlooking allotments at the back, this peaceful home has been cleverly remodelled to create a cheerful, modern vibe.

Situated between Green Lanes and Seven Sisters, the house is close to all manner of shops, cafes and pubs. It’s also strollable to both Chestnuts Park and Downhills Park, and the tube and Overground station is just down the road.

Elmar Road, South Tottenham, 3 Bedroom House

This three-bedroom terraced house with southerly garden is full of clever touches that maximise both space and character. The kitchen-diner, with its partially glazed roof, is—quite literally—a highlight, bathed in sunshine and overlooking the garden. It’s a lovely spot for morning coffee, family dinners and friendly entertaining. Upstairs, the original layout has been shrewdly reconfigured to introduce a small third bedroom, ideal for a nursery or home office. There’s also plenty of ingenious storage.

Always a coveted spot because of its lack of passing traffic, Elmar Road feels safe and neighbourly, and it’s only a short walk from Seven Sisters tube (on the speedy Victoria line) and Overground station. For a bit of green beyond the garden, Downhills and Chestnuts Parks are both walkable, and the wilds of Walthamstow Wetlands are only a bit further afield.

The EPC gives a current Energy Efficiency and Environmental Impact Rating: D.

In the Borough of Haringey, the house falls into Council Tax Band C (£1515 for 2020/21).

Over the past 13 years, the current owners have remodelled the house, including removing the structural wall between the two ground-floor reception rooms to create a more open space.

We have loved living in this house and have really enjoyed being part of the Elmar Road community. We love the fact that our garden backs onto the allotments. We still enjoy hearing the birds from our back garden every morning.

Whilst we endeavour to maintain accurate photographs, floor plans and descriptions, these are intended as a guide and purchasers must satisfy themselves by personal inspection.

1 Sushi Heads

A teeny, tiny little gem of a Japanese shop and takeaway counter that’s hidden away on Phillip Lane serving amazing sushi and hot dishes. Top notch, great value and lovely fresh fish.

2 True Craft

In this crazily-good pizza joint on the West Green Road, local craft beers (like Beavertown) sit happily next to quality imports (think Weizen-style Bavarian), giving you all kinds of problems when it comes to ordering. One of the most favourite spots in South Tottenham, and rightly so, you can also 'takeaway' if you fancy.

3 With Milk

Run by two lovely sisters with North African & Tottenham roots, this sweet independent coffee shop & deli on nearby Philip Lane packs a punch serving amazing coffee roasted by Perky Blenders in local Leytonstone. With a changing menu of sandwiches, sweet treats and blooming excellent croissants that always hit the spot, the ladies also offer gluten-free options, a range of halal meats and wonderful cheeses.

4 Bernie Grant Arts Centre

The eponymous Bernie Grant Arts Centre, founded by the Tottenham Labour MP during the 90s, was designed by David Adjaye and was built to showcase the best of independent and international arts with a focus on culturally diverse practice. There is a fantastic arthouse cinema, dance and theatre auditorium and cafe/bar/shop. All well worth a visit in our opinion.

5 Tottenham Green Leisure Centre

Having recently had a massive refurbishment, the facilities are now excellent. These include three pools, a gym, sauna and an ever popular soft play area. There is also a cafe where parents can rest up and watch the kids let off steam.
