BRICKWORKS SAYS

Spacious and stylish in equal measure, this three-bedroom flat with beautifully landscaped garden is minutes from Stoke Newington Church Street. Elegant details—high ceilings with ornate plaster roses, a debonair tiled entryway, large sash windows—punctuate the living areas and master bedroom, while the sunny contemporary kitchen extension sets the stage for a classic English garden. Bordered by wildflowers and a mature cherry tree, it’s a peaceful haven for morning birdsong and evening revelry alike. There’s a nice balance between inviting communal spaces and self-contained, private ones, including an entire guest suite downstairs. So everyone can relax and make themselves at home, both inside and out.

Church Street is ground zero for indie shopping, dining and drinking, all an easy stroll from the door. The rambling Victorian splendour of Abney Park, the urban oasis of Woodberry Wetlands and the lively green of Clissold Park are nearby. The commute’s a breeze, too, with Liverpool Street a mere 25 minutes away via Overground.

THE OWNERS SAY

From the moment we walked in, we knew this flat was home. We may never find another living room with such high ceilings and the warmth of a wood burner on a cold winter’s night. Waking up in bed or having breakfast in the kitchen, you can lose hours watching the birds or gazing at blossoms on the cherry tree. The garden has provided us with a tranquil escape and a wonderful place to entertain.

We’ve been fortunate to be surrounded by warm and helpful neighbours who are happy to water our plants when we’re away or share their homegrown vegetables.

Our proximity to the hustle and bustle of Church Street with its great pubs, restaurants and boutiques provided us with terrific social life. We’ve also taken full advantage of all the local parks, including Woodberry Wetlands, just a stone’s throw away.

1 Woodberry Wetlands

Next to the reservoir. A haven for wildlife and people, and with a lovely cafe overlooking the ponds.

2 The West Reservoir

Lush outdoor swimming spot, in the summer it even warms up enough for fair-weather swimmers.

3 The Clarence Tavern

This steller pub was recently highlighted as one of the best roasts in the country by The Observer magazine. Excellent food and wine, right next to Clissold Park.

4 The Good Egg

Delicious bagels and babkas. Need we say more!

5 Escocesa

With an exciting mix of Spanish mains and fresh Scottish seafood in chic industrial setting, this is our favourite spot for taking friends and family for a special night out without leaving the area. As you enter, stools around a bar look over the open kitchen with chefs preparing oysters and scallops. At the back, a relaxed but stylish restaurant serves wonderfully modern Spanish dishes. Encantamous!
