THE OWNER SAYS

We have loved every minute of living at Vartry Road and feel sad to say goodbye. We immediately fell in love with the property, with its period features and double-height ceilings. The mature garden is a magical sun trap and feels like a private oasis in the summer – it is so fun to entertain in.

The flat is close to Hackney and Stoke Newington's many bars and cafes, as well as many parks and natural spots, such as Woodbury Wetlands, where you can swim in the freshwater reservoir. Our child loves having the playground directly opposite and attending the wonderful nursery adjoining Paignton park. The transport links are brilliant, so you can be in town in no time. It's a peaceful residential area which has a strong sense of community. It feels safe and calm whilst still being relatively central.

BRICKWORKS SAYS

Even on the approach, the grand facade makes quite the impression. And the spaces within, mirror the exterior's elegant proportions, with lofty ceilings and expansive, light-filled rooms. Yet, thanks to the artistic decoration and homely features such as the wood burner, it still manages to nail a cosy feel.

Take the living room. With its square bay window overlooking the private garden, it makes for a beautiful backdrop for entertaining or putting your feet up in front of the fire. Likewise, the south-facing garden fits the bill whether you're in the mood for a BBQ with friends or lounging on the lawn solo. And linking it all together, you have the combination of elegant styling and use of colour. Together, they give this home oodles of personality and elevate it into something rather special.

Leafy Vartry Road is in striking distance of two ever-popular neighbourhoods: Seven Sisters and Stoke Newington. If you're a foodie, there are options galore for tucking into local culinary delights. And with green spaces like Woodberry Wetlands and Clissold Park nearby, getting your fix of fresh air is a breeze.

landmarks

1 Woodberry Wetlands

Next to the reservoir. A haven for wildlife and people, and with a lovely cafe overlooking the ponds.

2 True Craft

In this crazily-good pizza joint on the West Green Road, local craft beers (like Beavertown) sit happily next to quality imports (think Weizen-style Bavarian), giving you all kinds of problems when it comes to ordering. One of the most favourite spots in South Tottenham, and rightly so, you can also 'takeaway' if you fancy.

3 Pasero

Newly opened café and restaurant with good coffee, wine and happy hour-negronis.

4 Café Lemon

A little ray of sunshine, this chilled-out café caters for every taste with an eclectic menu. Run by a friendly bunch, it has a dedicated following of locals, as the polaroids of regulars can attest!

5 Markfield Park

Being recognized as one of the best parks in the country, the award winning Markfield Park is a gorgeously leafy riverside green space nestled beside the towpath of the River Lea. Peppered with houseboats along the Lea and a plethora of wildlife, the park is also home to the historic Beam Engine Museum and the family friendly Markfield Park Cafe serving healthy snacks and homemade cakes.
