At the top of a handsome property on Stoke Newington Church Street, with uninterrupted views out over Clissold Park, this small but perfectly formed one bedroom flat is a dream find.

Sitting next to St Mary's Church, close to where Albion Road intersects, the location is hard to beat. Truly in the spiritual heart of Stoke Newington, everything is within easy reach – and yet once inside you feel secluded from the comings and goings outside. It's a rare combination and one that instantly captivates.

BRICKWORKS SAYS

Fitting within the eaves, the internal space is dictated by the contours of the roofline. Yet far from detracting, the exposed wooden beams and trusses and the shapes and spaces they create, give this home a character all of its own.

The current owners have retained a minimal yet bohemian aesthetic with whitewashed walls and touches of pastel colour. The cool palette is an ideal backdrop that enhances the feeling of light and airiness, which – being on the uppermost floor – is already glorious.

While space is at a premium, every nook and cranny has been beautifully utilised, with clever storage dotted throughout. Up above, the flat roof also provides anyone with the courage to explore an amazing reward: a secret vantage spot to sunbathe or to simply watch the world go by.

POINTS TO CONSIDER

THE OWNERS SAY

The flat is beautiful in the summer. We liked to throw all the windows open and the roof hatch with a wonderful breeze coming through from the open space of the park across the street. In the colder months, the flat is a cosy refuge from busy city life.

I often think of it as a quiet paradise where you get a real sense of privacy; without much noise from neighbours and no buildings overlooking you. I will miss the sunrise shining into the living room in the mornings and the warm light of sunset in the bedroom. The trees are full and green in the summer, and when they lose their leaves in winter they reveal a fantastic view of the city in the distance.

THE LEGAL BIT
